Here are some very important ‘Tips’ & ‘Suggestions’ to keep in mind before going to Exam & while attempting the Exam. Read all these Tips keenly as these will definitely help you in your Exam.

General Guidelines:

  • It is important to carry your Admit Card sealed and signed from the Registered School Principal
  • Students will be allowed to take away the question paper and carbon copy of OMR sheet submitted by them.
  • SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates have to carry their category certificates during the examination. (wherever applicable)
  • OBC candidates will have to submit a copy of the Income Proof mentioning NTSE Stage-1 Roll No and Mobile No. (wherever applicable)
  • Kindly carry a valid ID Proof (School I Card/Aadhar Card).

Note: This time NTSE Stage-1 is going to have only two paper i.e MAT & SAT.

MAT paper will have 100 questions. In some states (e.g. Delhi, Chattisgarh etc.) the time given to solve MAT paper is 90 minutes while in some states (e.g. Rajasthan) time given is 120 minutes. Same with the SAT paper, 100 questions to be solved in 90 minutes in some states or 120 minutes in others.

In some states there will be a break of 2 hrs between the two papers, while some have a break of just 30 minutes

*Once you are in the examination room, be cool, be confident, you have prepared well and it’s going to be a good paper.

Exam Tips:

*Study the complete paper and read it well:
Take 4-5 minutes to review the paper fully before starting off. This will give you a good sense of the paper and its difficulty level. Work out the simple and difficult questions. Simple questions are to be answered first. It will consume less time and the more questions you attempt in less time, the more you feel confident and also have spare time to solve the difficult questions

Skip difficult questions:

*Do not be afraid to leave a question:
even mid-way, if you think you have spent enough time. Do not overspend your time in one or two questions. Just leave and move on. You are not expected to solve all the questions anyways.

Fill out the answers regularly:

*Make sure to regularly fill out the answers too:
It is not worth the time and effort to solve a question if you fail to fill the answer correctly. So give sufficient time to fill the answers. It is advisable to fill the answers every time you have attempted 10-15 questions.

At the last answer all unattended questions. NTSE Stage-1 doesn’t have negative marks for wrong questions, make sure that you attempt the whole 200 questions

Work with your strengths:

*Know your strengths and work with them:
There are certain types of NTSE questions that you may be good at e.g. completion of a number series or geometry etc. During your preparation for NTSE, you must have identified your strength areas. Make sure to attempt all those questions without fail.
