NTSE Update | Number of students to receive NTSE scholarship to be Doubled

About 500 students to get scholarships in Rajasthan, official notification to be released soon

Students who wish to appear in the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) will soon get good news. The number of students receiving the scholarship is going to be doubled.

Dr. Avinash Pandey, NCERT Examination Organizer, said that this was discussed in the last meeting of Human Resource Development held a few days ago. They have decided that the number of students to be selected in the final stage will be increased from one thousand (1,000) to two thousand (2,000). As a result, the number of students selected in the final examination from every state will be doubled.

Sh. Amit Gupta (Vice President, Allen Career Institute) told that the final examination of the NTSE will be held on May 12. So far, one thousand selected students get this scholarship in the final stage, but now this number is going to be doubled. At the same time, the central government is preparing to increase the state quota (given for the state level examination). NCERT has written a letter to MHRD in this regard. There is also a possibility that the results of the NTSE Stage-I would change as the quota of Rajasthan which was earlier 257 students, would be increased to 514.

NTS examination is conducted in two stages

There are two stages in the selection process. For NTSE Stage-I, Selection is done by States/UTs through a written examination. Students, who Qualify Stage- I, are eligible to appear for NTSE Stage-II examination. Every year about 1.5 lac students appear for the exam in Rajasthan. Out of which 257 students are selected according to the State Quota. These candidates are selected for the final exam. Now state quota may be doubled to 514. Approximately 1.5 Lac students from Rajasthan will be benefitted from this because if the state quota is doubled then almost twice the number of students will be able to appear in the final exam. In this case, the number of students receiving the scholarship will also increase

On the basis of the National Talent Search Examination, Scholarship of Rs.1250/- per month is given to selected students of class-XI to XII while Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month is given Undergraduates and Post-graduates. Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.
